FC Dallas look to stay on the winning track when they host Houston Dynamo FC on Saturday afternoon in Frisco, Texas, in this season's first Texas Derby match.
FC Dallas (1-1-1, 4 points) picked up its first win of the season when it swamped Portland 4-1 at home on May 1. Dallas' goals came from Andres Ricaurte (in the second minute), Jader Obrian (14th minute), Bressan (three minutes into first-half stoppage time) and Dante Sealy (85th minute).
Sealy's tally was the first of his MLS career.
The four goals are the most Dallas has scored since a 4-1 win over the Colorado Rapids on Sept. 16, 2020.
FC Dallas controlled the match from start to finish. FCD will need more of the same to produce a result against an improving Houston side.
"In terms of momentum of scoring four goals at home, that's what we need to do," FC Dallas midfielder Paxton Pomykal said. "Obviously playing our rivals in Houston, that's what we need is to get on the front foot early. I think imposing ourselves and getting an early goal was massive, and hopefully we can do the same thing (on Saturday)."
Dynamo FC (1-1-1, 4 points) head north to the Dallas suburbs after a 1-1 draw at home with Los Angeles FC on May 1. Tyler Pasher had Houston's goal in the 57th minute off a keen pass from Fafa Picault just two minutes after LAFC scored to take the lead.
"I definitely think it was a game we could have won," Pasher said after the draw. "We kind of came out not playing as hard as we usually do, but we picked it up in the second half and took it all the way to the end and luckily got a got a point out of it."
Pasher, a Canadian national, has been Dynamo FC's surprise player this season after making the leap back to MLS after playing for Indy Eleven in the USL Championship league. He has a goal and an assist in 239 minutes for Houston through three matches.
